Vision Statement:
The organization believes that the educational environment is the perfect place to promote acceptance of those who are different, and to encourage participation in the democratic process. Our goal is to get students involved in increasing the visibility of the LGBT community, educating the public on LGBT issues, and eradicating the laws that prevent the LGBT community from having the same rights as the rest of the world. We intend to do this by encouraging activism, and by making student voices heard in the national dialogue about civil rights and marriage equality.
Students for Equality was founded in 2008 by Eric Ross and Elijah Nouvelage.
